In Florida, Mortgage Brokers and Mortgage Lenders are regulated
by the Office of Financial Regulation under the Department of Financial
Services. The DFS has a website where you can look up licensed brokers,
brokerage businesses and lenders to check their status and if any
actions have been taken against them.
In Florida, the primary statue regulating mortgage loans is FS
494. Additionally, there are rules that are promulgated to implement
requirements of the law. Both can be found at links below.
